Before Your Appointment

To help ensure your assessment can proceed as scheduled, please ensure you have completed the following:

Your GP referral has been sent to Focus Mind Care and has been reviewed and accepted by our team. A valid GP referral is required before your first appointment, and we are unable to proceed with your assessment until it has been received and reviewed.
Your Patient Registration and Consent Form has been completed and signed, including your registration details, privacy consent and consent to assessment and treatment.
Any previous assessment reports, school reports, discharge summaries or relevant correspondence from psychiatrists, psychologists, paediatricians or other health professionals have been provided to us, as these may assist with your assessment.
You have received your secure telehealth link and tested your device, internet connection, camera and microphone before your appointment.

On the day of your appointment, please log in approximately 5 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time to complete any outstanding administrative requirements and ensure your audio and video are functioning correctly.

Why are two appointments required?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that requires a comprehensive assessment rather than a single consultation. Our assessment is ordinarily completed over two appointments to allow sufficient time to obtain a detailed developmental and psychiatric history, review standardised rating scales, school reports and other relevant records, and consider collateral information from parents, partners or other relevant sources where appropriate. This process also enables careful consideration of alternative or co-existing conditions before reaching a diagnostic opinion.

In some cases, additional information, medical investigations or further appointments may be required before a diagnosis or treatment recommendations can be made. Completion of the assessment does not guarantee an ADHD diagnosis or the prescription of medication.
